Automatic powerfactor control can be implemented in various ways using standard/simple APFC relays .we at little systems have innovated to used PLC using modbus protocol to collect and aquire energy ,reactive power ,voltage and current data from energy meter make a logic to control the powerfactor and use other relevant control data to predict the capacitors life and other usefull data

APFC panel operations

Automatic power factor control panel measure the reactive power and with proprietory logic it can switch the desired capacitor banks to attan near 1 powerfactor. Conventional APFC panels use general purpose APFC relay to blindly work upon the task,with just simple 7 segment display to express the operations ,there is little details about the reactive power .

Why Smart APFC panel

SMART apfc panels has data logging ,alarms much more to offer then the conventional APFC panel it offers data logging ,capacitor life monitoring,MCB tripping,Capacitor quality monitoring

Whenever new APFC panel is installed ,it works fine for some months but one fine day owner is surprised to see higher electricity bill with very low powerfactor .As the powerfactor is disturbed and there is no indication of MCB tripping or capacitor not working or contactor failed .MAny types of faults can result in low powerfactor .these errors /faults remain undetected by the APFC panel.

Apart from the faults the capacitor life degrades with passage of time .SMART APFC can detect the degrading capactiors by counting the no of hours the capacitos are used.
